Government has called on the private sector to take advantage of the gap and invest in charging points for electric motor vehicle batteries.
Speaking recently, Ministry of Transport and Logistics Permanent Secretary Fredrick Mwalusaka said since government has an approved policy to promote the use of electric motor vehicles (EVs), it would be easier for the private sector to invest in public battery charging infrastructure.
Mr. Mwalusaka said this when launching UD Trucks at Imperial Motors Limited.
He said government policy on the promotion of the use of green technologies and EVs is very clear, hence the private sector should take advantage and invest in setting up charging points across the country.
Mr. Mwalusaka said Zambia stands on the threshold of unprecedented transformation as a regional trade and logistics hub and needs modern fleet.
