CEJ Welcomes Zambia’s Plan For Environment Court

The Centre for Environment Justice (CEJ) has welcomed plans by the Judiciary to establish a specialised Lands and Environment Court. Recently, Chief Justice Mumba Malila, while addressing newly-appointed and promoted judges in Lusaka, announced plans to establish the court to address the growing number and complexity of land and environmental disputes. Tiz Demands Immediate Reopening Of Courts

Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) has observed with concern the closure of the country's courts on the final day for filing presidential election petitions. Executive Director Maurice Nyambe stated that the unsigned memorandum directing staff not to report for work on grounds of "security concerns" is troubling given the post-election period.
