The Government has released 16.1 billion Kwacha in August 2026 to support public service delivery, debt obligations, social protection programmes and ongoing infrastructure development.
Of the amount, 7.6 billion Kwacha was directed towards debt servicing and the dismantling of domestic arrears, while 4.1 billion Kwacha was released for the Public Service wage bill and related obligations.
A further 1.8 billion Kwacha was allocated to Government programmes and general operations, 1.7 billion Kwacha towards transfers, subsidies and social benefits, while 896.4 million Kwacha was released for capital expenditure.
The Government says 249.8 million Kwacha of the amount allocated to Government programmes was released to the Electoral Commission of Zambia to support the conduct of the 2026 General Elections.
Meanwhile, 896.4 million Kwacha was released for infrastructure investment, with 598.4 million Kwacha allocated to road infrastructure and 298 million Kwacha towards ongoing infrastructure projects across the country.
