Chief Sokontwe of the Ushi-speaking people in Milenge District, Luapula Province, has dismissed allegations that opposition politician Celestine Mukandila is not Zambian.
The Traditional Leader stated that Mr. Mukandila was born in his chiefdom on 20th February 1990.
Chief Sokontwe said Mr. Mukandila only travelled to Congo because of his parents’ work, and that his mother belongs to the abena mfula, the rain clan, from Chief Mununga in Nchelenge District.
He added that Mr. Mukandila and his family later returned from Congo.
Meanwhile, Immigration authorities say they are investigating claims that Mr. Mukandila is accused of obtaining Zambian documents improperly.
Mayfair Insurance Company has donated wheelchairs and cleaning materials to Matero Level One Hospital and the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka.
