ZAMBIA SUGAR PUMPS IN K350, 000 TO ZAMs 16 ANNUAL MANUFACTURERS’ MONTH

Zambia Sugar Plc has partnered with the Zambia Association of Manufacturers – ZAM in support of the 16th Annual Manufacturers’ Month.
The Mazabuka-based company has contributed K350, 000 towards the hosting of the event which is being observed under the theme “Towards Vision 2030: Resurgent Manufacturing for a Prosperous and Inclusive economy.”
Speaking when he handed over the contribution at Zambia Sugar offices, the Company’s Corporate Affairs Director, Mr. Eugene Chungu, applauded the partnership.
He said Zambia Sugar is pleased to work with ZAM in ensuring the successful hosting of the activities lined up for the month.
Mr. Chungu noted that Zambia Sugar also engages in sugar agro processing, a subsector of the manufacturing sector, which had made it into the country’s Grow Zambia Agenda.
He said the inclusion of the sugar industry in the country’s growth agenda has given the company more clarity in terms of the industry target that should be attained.
Mr. Chungu outlined that the firm has a target of significantly contributing to the one million tonnes of sugar production in the highlighted period.
He added that the development will help Zambia Sugar align its targets to those of other local and international stakeholders.
Receiving the display-cheque, ZAM Board Trustee, Peter Cottan welcomed Zambia Sugar as a Partner Sponsor.
He commended the company for taking the lead in creating value beyond primary agricultural production by processing sugarcane into finished products, hence significantly contribute to employment, supply chains and the broader industrial ecosystem.
Activities included in the manufacturer’s month are the Energy Conference, exhibitions, charity events, a family fun day and a gala dinner.
