A delegation from Zambia’s Ministry of Tourism is in Lilongwe, Malawi, for the inaugural meeting of the Joint Tourism Technical Committee aimed at strengthening tourism cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.
The meeting, taking place from August 4th to 6th, brings together representatives from the departments of Tourism, National Parks and Wildlife, Culture and Traditional Affairs, Planning and Information, as well as the National Heritage Conservation Commission, the Zambia Institute for Hospitality and Tourism Studies and the Zambia Tourism Agency.
Speaking during the opening session at the Bingu International Convention Centre, Zambia’s Co-Chairperson of the committee, Dr. Charles Mweshi said the Joint Tourism Technical Committee will serve as the principal technical platform for coordinating, monitoring and implementing tourism initiatives under the 2018 Memorandum of Understanding signed between Zambia and Malawi.
Dr. Mweshi said the committee has the responsibility of translating policy commitments into practical programs that will deliver tangible benefits to both countries.
Mayfair Insurance Company has donated wheelchairs and cleaning materials to Matero Level One Hospital and the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka.
