The Zambia Law Development Commission has published simplified and translated versions of the Constitution of Zambia (Amendment) Act Number 13 of 2025

The Zambia Law Development Commission has published simplified and translated versions of the Constitution of Zambia (Amendment) Act Number 13 of 2025 and the Electoral Process (Amendment) Act Number 12 of 2026 to improve public understanding of the country’s laws.
In a statement issued today, Commission Director and Commission Secretary, Hope Ndhlovu-Chanda, says the publications have been produced in line with the Commission’s legal mandate to make legislation more accessible to the public.
The simplified versions have been translated into Zambia’s seven major local languages namely Icibemba, Cinyanja, Citonga, Silozi, Lunda, Ciluvale and Kiikaonde.
The Commission has also produced Zambian Sign Language versions of the publications to ensure persons with hearing impairments have access to the information.
Mrs. Ndhlovu-Chanda says all the publications are available free of charge on the Commission’s official website, social media platforms and YouTube channel.
She adds that the Commission will progressively distribute the publications through media houses and district-level institutions responsible for public information to ensure wider access across the country.
The Commission has encouraged members of the public, schools, civil society organisations, traditional leaders and faith-based organisations to use the publications in promoting legal literacy and civic education.
Meanwhile, the Zambia Law Development Commission says the simplified, translated and sign language versions are intended solely to improve public understanding of the law and do not replace the official Acts of Parliament. In the event of any inconsistency, the official versions published in the Government Gazette shall take precedence.
