South Africa’s Supreme Court of Appeal has ruled in favour of the Lungu family.
The SCA upheld their appeal, set aside the Gauteng High Court order, and dismissed the Zambian government’s application to repatriate former President Edgar Lungu’s remains. Lungu’s body will remain in South Africa. Judgment delivered today, 23 June 2026
