President Hakainde Hichilema has pledged K200, 000 towards the 2026 Kulamba Traditional Ceremony, an annual cultural event that brings together the Chewa people of Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique.
The pledge was announced by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Permanent Secretary for Technical Services, Nicholas Phiri, during a fundraising dinner held in support of the 2026 Kulamba Traditional Ceremony.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Phiri said the Kulamba Traditional Ceremony plays a significant role in preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of the Chewa people.
Β He noted that the ceremony strengthens the identity of the Chewa community while ensuring that its customs and traditions are passed on to future generations.
Mayfair Insurance Company has donated wheelchairs and cleaning materials to Matero Level One Hospital and the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka.
