President Hichilema Defends Government Policies During Lusaka–Ndola Road Inspection

President Hakainde Hichilema has questioned why opposition political parties are seeking to form Government when, according to him, they agree with many of the policies implemented by his administration.

Speaking during a drive-through inspection of the Lusaka–Ndola Dual Carriageway, President Hichilema said re-electing him and the United Party for National Development (UPND) in next month’s General Election would ensure the project’s successful completion.

Addressing residents who gathered along the roadside, the Head of State urged Zambians not to return to what he described as a period of political violence and economic instability.

President Hichilema said the Lusaka–Ndola Dual Carriageway is being implemented at a cost of approximately US$650 million under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.

He added that this represents a significant reduction in cost compared to the previous Patriotic Front (PF) administration’s proposal, which he said would have exceeded US$1 billion.
