LCC completes rehabilitation of ablution blocks at new Soweto

The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has successfully completed the rehabilitation of three ablution blocks at New Soweto Market at a total cost of K592,557.00. The project was funded through the Council’s own-source revenue under its capital projects programme.
LCC Public Relations Manager Chola Mwamba said the rehabilitation was undertaken to improve sanitation standards at one of Lusaka’s busiest trading hubs, which accommodates more than 9,000 traders and serves thousands of customers daily.
The upgraded ablution facilities will provide traders and members of the public with clean, safe, and hygienic sanitation services, contributing to a healthier and more conducive trading environment.
The rehabilitation forms part of the Council’s broader efforts to improve sanitation infrastructure, promote public health, and reduce the risk of diseases associated with poor sanitation.
Under the same programme, Kabwata Market has also benefited from the rehabilitation of its ablution blocks, demonstrating the Council’s continued investment in improving public facilities across the city.
