Government Hands Over K999, 252 Worth Of Farming Equipment In Senanga

Government has handed over farming equipment valued at K999,252.01, acquired using recoveries from the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 Food Security Pack (FSP) Programme, marking the first-ever investment of its kind in Senanga District.

The equipment, which will benefit 12 Community Welfare Assistance Committees (CWACs), comprises 13 two-piston diesel hammer mills, three solar pump sets, two two-wheel walking tractor sets complete with ploughs and rotavators, and two tool carriers.

The investment is expected to enhance agricultural production, promote value addition and increase income generation among beneficiary communities.

Gracing the handover ceremony, Ministry of Community Development and Social Services Permanent Secretary Ms. Beatrice Chilomo described the occasion as a clear demonstration that prudent management of public resources and responsible beneficiary participation can produce sustainable and lasting development outcomes.

She expressed confidence that the equipment would enable beneficiaries to remain productive throughout the year, leading to increased household incomes, improved food security and enhanced livelihoods across the district.

The Permanent Secretary also congratulated beneficiaries who honoured their recovery obligations, noting that their discipline, integrity and commitment had made the investment possible. She said the revolving recovery mechanism under the Food Security Pack Programme enables Government to continuously reinvest resources, thereby extending support to more vulnerable households and strengthening the sustainability of the programme.

Ms. Chilomo urged the beneficiary Community Welfare Assistance Committees to manage the equipment responsibly by ensuring proper maintenance, transparency and accountability so that the assets continue delivering long-term socio-economic benefits to the people of Senanga District.
