Governance expert Wesley Miyanda has called on the government to translate electoral campaign promises into measurable results to maintain public trust and confidence in the administration.
Mr Miyanda says citizens are now waiting to see the implementation of promises made during the election campaigns, particularly those relating to infrastructure, health, education, skills training and job creation.
He says the government should clearly distinguish between short-term and long-term commitments and provide realistic timelines for their implementation.
Mr Miyanda has cited the proposed recruitment of health workers and teachers as some of the commitments that could be implemented within a relatively short period, while projects such as airports and major infrastructure developments require proper planning and resource mobilisation.
He says fulfilling such commitments is important because citizens judge the value of their vote by the improvements.
Mayfair Insurance Company has donated wheelchairs and cleaning materials to Matero Level One Hospital and the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka.
