The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has begun releasing the first batch of official presidential results following the August 13, 2026, general election hours after lifting the suspension on results announcements.
The suspension had been placed on grounds of reports of violence targeted at poll staff during the counting and announcing of votes in some districts which in some instances led to theft of ballot boxes.
In the first four (4) out of 226 constituencies officially verified and announced, President Hakainde Hichilema of the United Party for National Development (UPND) held the lead over his main opposition challenger, Brian Mundubile of the National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP)
In Chisamba District,Chisamba Constituency, Hakainde Hichilema got 6,568 while Brian Mundubile garnered 3,180;Β In Kaputa District, Kundabwika Constituency, Hakainde Hichilema had 4,160 while Brian Mundubile had 3,180; in Luangwa District, Feira Constituency, Hakainde Hichilema garnered 4,900 votes while Brian Mundubile had 7,885 and in Mufumbwe District, Dongwe Constituency, Hakainde Hichilema had 6,848 and Brian Mundubile got 143 votes.
The ConsolidatedΒ results from the four constituencies are 22,476 for Hakainde Hichilema and 14,388 for the leading opposition leader Brian Mundubile, a difference of 8,088 votes.
