The Electoral Commission of Zambia has strongly rejected claims that it secretly printed extra ballot papers in Tanzania for the 2026 General Election.

ECZ Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro says the allegations circulating on The Candidates Facebook page are false and malicious.

The claims allege that ballot papers will be smuggled through the Nakonde border with military assistance and distributed in Eastern, Luapula, Northern and Muchinga provinces to favor President Hakainde Hichilema.

Mr. Kasaro added that ballot papers will be transported by air on a chartered plane directly to Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka, and stakeholders will be invited to witness their arrival and verification. He stressed that no ballot paper will enter the country by road through any border.

The ECZ has urged the public and political stakeholders not to be misled by individuals seeking to discredit the electoral process.
