The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has announced consolidated presidential results from 161 of the 226 constituencies. According to the official results announced by the ECZ at the 2026 National Results Centre at Mulungushi International Conference Centre this afternoon, United Party for National Development (UPND) presidential candidate Hakainde Hichilema is leading with 2,057,986 votes. Government Announces Arrests Following Suspected Security Operation in Kabulonga

Government has announced the arrest of several individuals following a police operation in Lusaka’s Kabulonga area, which authorities say is linked to suspected security threats. Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa said the operation, conducted on August 13, resulted in the apprehension of 11 people and the recovery of weapons, ammunition and other materials. Wamunyima declared MP-elect for Nalolo Constituency

United Party for National Development candidate Imanga Wamunyima has been declared Member of Parliament-elect for Nalolo Constituency after polling 10,420 votes. He defeated Independent candidate Namakando Mashekwa, who garnered 10,067 votes. Nalolo Returning Officer Kelvin Sianjalika announced the results at Nalolo Civic Centre. A total of 21,943 votes were cast out of 34,223 registered voters, representing a voter turnout of 64.1 percent.

ECZ CLARIFIES KEMBE EAST ERROR AS PRESIDENTIAL RESULTS REACH 135 CONSTITUENCIES

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has announced consolidated presidential election results from 135 of the 226 constituencies, with UPND candidate Hakainde Hichilema leading the tally. ECZ Chairperson Mwangala Zaloumis said Mr Hichilema had secured 1,544,140 votes, while NRPUP candidate Brian Mundubile was in second position with 1,030,662 votes. The Commission said the 135 constituencies had 4,793,053 registered voters, with 2,701,287 votes cast. The Zambia Police Service has commended members of the public for the peaceful manner in which they conducted themselves during the August 13th General Elections.
