Opposition Leaders commends all stakeholders for maintaining peace during yesterday’s elections

United Liberal Party — ULP — Leader Sakwiba Sikota has commended all stakeholders for maintaining peace during yesterday’s elections.

Mr. Sikota says the largely violence-free polls are a positive development for Zambia and demonstrate the country’s commitment to peaceful democratic participation.

He has praised political parties, candidates, voters, electoral officials and security agencies for their role in maintaining peace throughout the voting process.

Mr Sikota has urged all stakeholders to continue exercising restraint and uphold peace as the country proceeds with the remaining stages of the electoral process.

And United National Independence Party — UNIP — Leader Trevor Mwamba has shared his experience regarding the environment during the recent polls.

Bishop Mwamba says the electoral process provided an opportunity for citizens to exercise their democratic right and participate in choosing leaders.

In the meantime; New Heritage Party Leader Chishala Kateka says the party will petition election results in provinces where voter turnout was low.

Ms Kateka says the move is intended to ensure an audit of the results and promote transparency in the electoral process.

She says the party will use the available legal and electoral mechanisms to challenge the results where it has concerns about the credibility of the voting figures.
