Kasama Deo Calls for Improved Women’s participation ahead of the 2026 General Elections

The District Electoral Officer for Kasama Mr. John AK Mwanza, has called on women to take up leadership roles and actively participate in the electoral process as Zambia prepares for the 2026 General Elections.

Speaking during the official opening of the Women’s Conference being held today at Urban Hotel in Kasama, Mr . Mwanza reaffirmed the Electoral Commission of Zambia’s commitment to promoting inclusive, peaceful and credible elections.

He encouraged women to continue playing a leading role in shaping the country’s democratic future and urged participants to familiarise themselves with the new Proportional Representation (PR) system introduced under the Constitution of Zambia (Amendment) Act No. 13 of 2025.

He further appealed to the delegates to share the knowledge gained with other members of their communities.

Held under the theme “Count Me In,” the conference has brought together women leaders and key stakeholders to strengthen women’s participation in the electoral process ahead of the 2026 General Elections.
