The Medical for Quality Healthcare in Zambia has called for a credible, fair and transparent recruitment process ahead of the government’s 2026 health worker recruitment exercise.
The appeal follows the Civil Service Commission’s announcement that advertisements for the recruitment of 2,600 health workers will be published on 14 July 2026.
Organization Director General Dr. Quince Mwabu says the upcoming recruitment exercise provides an opportunity to restore public confidence in the country’s health workforce recruitment system by addressing concerns raised during the 2024 and 2025 recruitment processes.
Dr. Mwabu notes that previous recruitment exercises were characterized by concerns from health professionals and members of the public regarding the use of the recruitment database, inconsistencies in candidate selection, allegations of corruption, and other reported irregularities.
He has urged the relevant authorities to ensure the 2026 recruitment process is conducted with transparency, fairness and accountability to strengthen public trust and guarantee equal opportunities for all eligible applicants.
